Labor Support
Target Audience
This seminar is intended for labor and delivery nurses, childbirth
educators and anyone interested in learning "hands-on"
techniques and tricks-of-the-trade for labor support.
Course Content
-Labor Physiology: understanding labor physiology and the components
of labor progress
-Pain Dimensions: identifying the three dimensions of labor pain
and the factors that influence it
-Labor Pain Management: non-pharmacological techniques and comfort
measures to assist with labor pain management
-The Support Role: the role of the support person and their effect
on labor
-Managing Labor Dystocia: strategies to manage labor dystocia and
enhance labor progress
-Evidence-Based Practice of Second Stage: applying research-based
knowledge to the clinical practice of second stage labor management

for perinatal education determined by AWHONN. "Provider is
