Target Audience
This seminar is intended for labor and delivery nurses, childbirth educators and anyone interested in learning "hands-on" techniques and tricks-of-the-trade for labor support.

Course Content

-Labor Physiology: understanding labor physiology and the components of labor progress

-Pain Dimensions: identifying the three dimensions of labor pain and the factors that influence it

-Labor Pain Management: non-pharmacological techniques and comfort measures to assist with labor pain management

-The Support Role: the role of the support person and their effect on labor

-Managing Labor Dystocia: strategies to manage labor dystocia and enhance labor progress

-Evidence-Based Practice of Second Stage: applying research-based knowledge to the clinical practice of second stage labor management

Our faculty is dedicated to quality continuing education for nurses by meeting or exceeding the competencies and program guidelines for perinatal education determined by AWHONN. "Provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 13154 for 7 contact hours."
