Keeping your CCE, CBC, CD, CIME, CLSS and CPFI
certification current
Recertification through PCE maintains your status
as a certified childbirth educator (CCE), certified breastfeeding
counselor (CBC), certified doula (CD), certified labor support specialist
(CLSS), certified infant massage instructor/educator (CIME) or certified
prenatal/postnatal fitness instructor (CPFI). Other benefits of
certification maintenance include educational opportunities and
remaining on the "Perspective" newsletter mailing list.
Recertification for CCE, CIME, CD or CLSS requires either proof
of attendance to any other PCE program or proof of 18 hours of recognized
continuing education credit related to maternal child health.
Recertification for CBC requires proof of 18 hours of recognized
continuing education credit related to lactation and maternal child
health; at least 6 hours must be related to lactation.
Recertification for CPFI requires proof of 18 hours of recognized
continuing education credit related to maternal child health and
exercise; at least 6 hours must be related to exercise.
If you are unable to meet the educational requirements necessary
for recertification, there are educational packets available for
a processing fee of $75 each. These educational tools provide 8
ceu's and will satisfy the educational requirements necessary for
recertification. Each packet consists of 6 articles to read and
then answering a few questions about each article.
Recertification fee is $40 for every 3 year period.
